About the role
The role is part of a high performing team centered on Finance transformation and becoming a best-in-class Finance organization.
The purpose of the Controlling Operations Hub Team Manager is to implement and build a high-performing and service-oriented team to drive process centralization, standardizationand automation and implement transformation projects for the Controlling Ops controlling processes, while ensuring the daily business continuity across businesses and sites. This includes leading and overseeing the end-to-end delivery spend management controlling services across multiple business lines within the EMEA scope. This role is central to ensuring operational excellence in OPEX and CAPEX controlling activities, including purchase order management, commitment analysis, allocation cycles, ICO rebilling, etc.
Beyond service delivery, this position carries a strong leadership dimension — the successful candidate will be responsible for building, developing, and guiding a young, growing team, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Main responsibilities:
Service Delivery
- Accountable for the efficient, high-quality, and compliant delivery of transversal controlling services related to closing activities (allocations, OPEX accruals and provisions, GTN activities, inventory provisions, etc.), analysis, and reporting of OPEX within the EMEA scope.
- Act as a central point of coordination for cross-functional controlling topics that span across service delivery lines.
- Ensure that the end-to-end service is highly efficient, cost-effective, agile, and of the highest quality to meet internal customer satisfaction (Sanofi employees, other Controlling Operations Service Delivery Lines) and achieve strategic KPI targets.
- Create a culture of cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork across Controlling Operations and ensure a smooth interface and clear communication with all relevant business stakeholders.
- Ensure Compliance and Internal Control/SOX standards are consistently met. Perform all necessary controls and act as a role model, in full alignment with the ethical and compliance rules of the Group
- Oversee the full lifecycle of Purchase Orders, including approval workflows, ongoing follow-up, and timely closing of POs in line with internal policies and compliance requirements.
- Manage and execute allocation cycles, ensuring accurate and timely cost distribution across entities and business lines.
- Oversee intercompany (ICO) rebilling processes, ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and alignment with transfer pricing guidelines.
Transformation Management
- Support global transformation projects related to Controlling Operations, aligning to the Global Core Model (e.g., Accrual Engine, Commitment Reports, OPEX AI, E2E Spend Management), and drive related process improvements.
- Closely collaborate with Global Process Owners, and the Head of Transversal to support the design and implementation of key transformation projects within operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in ways of working, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, automation, and service quality.
People Management & Team Development
- Build and lead a young, growing team from the ground up, fostering a high-performing, learning-oriented culture with a strong focus on talent development and professional growth.
- Provide hands-on guidance in day-to-day activities, ensuring clear direction, structured support, and smooth execution of operational tasks.
- Implement roles and responsibilities as per the Core Model and RACI of the Controlling Operations Hub, including defining back-up arrangements to ensure business continuity.
- Supervise individual performance, driving development plans, training initiatives, objective setting, and career growth for each team member.
About you
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- MBA and/or CPA preferred
Experience:
- Head: 5+ years of service delivery and management in finance controlling environment
- Pharmaceutical and public accounting experience preferred
- Controlling Opex experience or A2R, P2P
Soft and technical skills:
- Effective change management required to manage transition to the future Core model
- Ability to think strategically: global picture understanding combined with operational execution follow up and management. Risk & Internal controls advanced.
- Demonstrated results building partnerships with multi-levels across businesses required.
- Must have the ability to influence and shape business decisions.
- Ability to lead and manage a team with at least 8 team members, and stakeholders through influence including demonstrated facilitator skills
- Strong organization skills: ability to track and manage a high volume of projects at a detailed level
- Ability to develop a rapport and credibility with key stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively across international work streams
- Demonstrated organization savvy and self- awareness
- Adaptable and able to work in complex matrix environment
- Demonstrated experience modeling ethical behavior in challenging situations required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail and strategic thinking
- Proven experience working across multiple internal stakeholders
- Technology savvy, business orientation, and agile learning abilities required
- Capable of working in multiple systems and tools
- Solid grasp of evolving Sanofi technology platforms, processes, and controls including SAGA
Languages:
- English is a must
