The Senior Associate Scientist will be a part of the Global Drug Product Development & Manufacturing group. The candidate will primarily support Biopharmaceutical Drug Product development projects for Gene Therapy (in support of the Genomic Medicine Unit) and Protein therapeutic programs. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on different facets of drug product development for a broad range of modalities, such as Lipid Nanoparticles, recombinant AAV capsids, and Protein/Enzyme therapeutics.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Execution of formulation, process development and stability studies in multidisciplinary teams

  • Working with internal and external partners to address drug product formulation and process development, technology transfer, manufacturing, stability and compatibility aspects, using established assays efficiently and comprehensively, across a variety of technological platforms and disciplines

  • Planning, prioritization, and initiation of concurrent experimental procedures for multiple programs to ensure their timely completion

  • Maintaining a strong work ethic and good documentation practices including electronic laboratory notebook maintenance and writing of technical reports and SOPs

  • Analyzing, compiling and presenting results to internal and cross functional teams comprised of members from multiple groups and stakeholders

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline or a Bachelor’ degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience

  • Knowledge of analytical and biophysical characterization techniques, such as DLS, HPLC, CE-SDS, DSC, CD, PCR, and fluorescence spectroscopy

  • Ability to multi-task and learn new skills and possess flexibility and adaptability that is needed in a fast-paced team environment

Advanced (or Preferred) Qualifications:

  • Experience in handling, maintaining and characterizing viral and/or non-viral gene therapies is a plus.

  • Experience in one or more drug product development aspects (e.g., formulation, process, technology transfer, manufacturing, stability and compatibility), specifically for viral and/or non-viral gene therapies is a significant plus.
