Main Responsibilities:

Administration of fermentation lots

  • Directs daily/weekly work of five technicians in the Fermentation area.
  • Check all BRPs, BPRs, and LINQs for completion and insurance of accuracy of all documents.
  • Ensure equipments are kept in good condition and up-to-date for validation/certification.
  • Order supplies and equipment and keep stock of spare parts.
    train technicians to comply to cGMP and SOP requirements.
  • Ensure all in-house cleaning log books/settle plates are up-to-date.
  • Delegates work to appropriate technicians.

Preparation of Seed Cultures (Pertussis, Diphtheria, Cholera and Tetanus)

  • Preparation of working seeds by using a freeze-dryer.
  • Preparation of seed cultures as required for each fermentation.
  • Preparation of media as required for seed culture work.
  • Monitor inventory of seed cultures and inform supervisor for appropriate action.

Fermentation of Pertussis, Diphtheria and Tetanus

  • Set up 30-litre fermentors. This requires proper cleaning of the fermentors as per SOPs.
  • Connect sensors to the control tower, set up and calibrate proper probes and sensors as per SOP.
  • Monitor and establish trending data during the fermentation run. Aseptic sampling, monitoring and inactivation of fermentation cultures.

Recovery of Cells or Toxins after fermentation

  • Harvesting of Fermentor Process: Set up a continuous centrifuge and filters as required for different processes of recovery.
  • Operate centrifuge and filtration unit aseptically.
  • Trouble- shoot centrifuge and filtration as required.
  • Dismantle centrifuge and filter units and perform SIP, CIP or manual cleaning as required.

Monitoring and Analysis of Production Batches

  • Weigh chemicals according to calculations and perform detoxification of tetanus toxin.
  • Perform all analytical tests as required for the release of batch product.
  • Tests include Purity, Agglutination, Inactivity, Sterility and Flocculation.

Preparation of Reports and SPC Analysis

  • WriteupReports:SOP,BPRprotocol,BRPpicklist.

  • LogproductiondatainthedatafileorLINQsystemandperform sPC.

  • Designandset-upexperimentsforprocessimprovements

    orvalidation.Writeupreports.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3)years College Diploma in Biochemistry, Microbiology or Bioengineering), plus a minimum of three (3)years ofpreviousrelevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Microbiology or Bioengineering, plus a minimum of three (2) years ofpreviousrelevant work experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of Microbiology / Fermentation

  • Basic Mechanical skill and knowledge

  • Computer knowledge in Quatro Pro, Word Perfect

  • Supervisory skill

Hours Of Work:

  • Inclusive from Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
