About the job

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated mRNA Drug Product Data Scientist to join our innovative team at Sanofi. In this role, you will be at the forefront of mRNA-based therapeutics, applying your expertise in data science to support the development and optimization of mRNA drug products. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to analyze complex datasets, develop predictive models, and provide data-driven insights to enhance our mRNA drug product development pipeline, with a particular focus on drug product stability modeling and Bayesian statistical approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large-scale, complex datasets related to mRNA drug product development, including formulation, stability, and manufacturing process data
  • Develop and implement advanced statistical models, with a focus on Bayesian approaches, and machine learning algorithms to predict mRNA drug product characteristics and optimize formulation parameters
  • Design and execute drug product stability modeling studies, utilizing both frequentist and Bayesian statistical methods to predict and improve long-term stability of mRNA therapeutics
  • Collaborate with formulation scientists, process engineers, and other cross-functional teams to design experiments and interpret results, particularly in the context of stability studies
  • Create and maintain data pipelines for efficient data processing, analysis, and visualization, with a focus on stability data management and analysis
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to improve mRNA drug product stability, efficacy, and manufacturing processes
  • Utilize bioinformatics tools to analyze sequence-based data and its impact on mRNA drug product performance and stability
  • Apply Bayesian statistical methods for uncertainty quantification and risk assessment in drug product development and manufacturing processes
  • Present findings and recommendations to project teams and senior management in a clear and concise manner, including complex stability models and Bayesian analysis results
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, Bayesian statistics, and mRNA therapeutics, particularly in the area of drug product stability
  • Ensure compliance with data integrity standards and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry, especially concerning stability data and modeling

About you

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong background in statistics, including both frequentist and Bayesian approaches, machine learning, and data analysis techniques
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, with hands-on experience in implementing Bayesian models using tools like Stan, PyMC, or JAGS
  • Demonstrated experience in drug product stability modeling and analysis, preferably with mRNA-based therapeutics or other biopharmaceuticals
  • Experience with big data technologies and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of mRNA biology, drug delivery systems, and pharmaceutical development processes is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., FDA, EMA guidelines), particularly those related to drug product stability testing and modeling
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights, especially in the context of drug stability predictions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • 1+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, preferably in areas related to mRNA therapeutics or drug product development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in applying Bayesian methods to real world data in different applications
  • Knowledge of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation for mRNA delivery and its impact on drug product stability
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies, particularly for stability studies. Experience in Bayesian DoE methods
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., RShiny) for presenting complex stability data and model results
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals related to data science in drug development, mRNA therapeutics, or drug product stability modeling
  • Experience in applying Bayesian methods to pharmaceutical development challenges, for example process modeling and optimization
