We are looking for a motivated animal caretaker to join the team responsible for the camelid vaccinations and as such support the NANOBODY® Discovery campaigns in different therapeutic areas (e.g. oncology, immunology, inflammation, rare and neurological diseases etc.). In this role you will be involved in taking care of our llamas and alpacas and their facilities. This includes ao feeding the animals, assisting the weekly health check and supporting animal manipulations. The opportunity is a full-time position with weekend shifts in a rotation system. You will work in a small team at the animal facility.

Sanofi Ghent is engaged in the development of NANOBODY® molecules, proprietary therapeutic proteins based on single-domain antibody fragments, which have potential uses in the treatment of a range of serious and life-threatening human diseases. Hence, Sanofi Ghent develops a portfolio of NANOBODY®-based therapeutic programs in several major disease areas, including inflammation, neurology, immuno-oncology and oncology.

In this role you will take care of our llamas and alpacas on a daily basis including:

  • Feeding the animals (hay, concentrate) and checking/cleaning the water bowls

  • Maintenance of materials, and facility

  • Cleaning of the stables (mucking out, cleaning, disinfecting, bedding stables with straw)

  • Observing and weighing the camelids

  • Supporting the weekly health monitoring of the camelids performed by the veterinarians

  • Training of new animals (eg socialization, haltering)

  • Assisting with the yearly shearing of the alpacas

  • Supporting the camelid manipulations (eg vaccinations, blood sampling)

General Responsibilities:

  • You will report via digital tools (including data collection)

  • You will communicate observations to the team (such as abnormal behavior or signs of illness/distress)

  • You will actively contribute to team meetings

  • You will take up equipment and/or stock responsibilities

Qualifications/Education & Work Experience

  • Diploma (Bachelor) in animal care

  • Lab Animal Science certificate (eg FELASA) is a must

  • Experience with (experimental) large animals is an asset

  • You are fluent in English

  • You are a team player who thrives in a daily collaboration with a small group of animal caretakers

  • You are flexible, independent, pro-active, attentive, and self-motivated

  • You enjoy physical work and like being outdoors

  • You have a driver’s license (at least type B)

  • Software knowledge: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneNote

Vacature Dierverzorger

  • Locatie: Waasland

We zijn op zoek naar een gemotiveerdedierverzorger om het team te versterken dat verantwoordelijk is voor de vaccinaties van kleine kameelachtigen. Vaccinaties staan aan de start van de verschillende NANOBODY® Discovery-projecten, die verschillende therapeutische ziektedomeinen omhelzen (bijv. immuno-oncologie, immunologie, ontstekingsziektes, neurologische en zeldzame ziektes, enz.). In deze rol sta je in voor de verzorging van onze lama's en alpaca's en hun huisvestingsfaciliteiten. Dit omvat o.a. het voederen van de dieren, het assisteren bij de wekelijkse gezondheidscontrole en het ondersteunen van diermanipulaties. Het betreft een fulltime functie met weekenddiensten in een rotatiesysteem. Je werkt in een klein team in de dierfaciliteit.

Sanofi Gent is expert in de ontwikkeling van NANOBODY®-moleculen die kunnen worden gebruikt bij de behandeling van verschillende ernstige en levensbedreigende ziekten bij de mens. Daarom ontwikkelt Sanofi Gent een portfolio van op NANOBODY® gebaseerde therapeutische programma's in verschillende van deze ziektegebieden, waaronder dus ontsteking, neurologie, immuno-oncologie en oncologie.

In deze rol sta je in voor de dagelijkse verzorging voor onze lama's en alpaca’s door

  • het voederen van de dieren (hooi, krachtvoer) en het controleren/schoonmaken van de drinkbakken

  • onderhoud van materialen en faciliteiten

  • schoonmaak van de stallen (uitmesten, reinigen, ontsmetten, instrooien)

  • het observeren en wegen van de dieren

  • ondersteuning van de wekelijkse gezondheidsmonitoring uitgevoerd door de dierenartsen

  • training van nieuwe dieren (o.a. socialisatie, halster training)

  • assistentie bij het jaarlijks scheren van de alpaca's

  • ondersteuning van de manipulaties bij de dieren (vaccinaties, bloednames)

Algemene verantwoordelijkheden

  • Je rapporteert via digitale applicaties (inclusief dataverzameling)

  • Je communiceert observaties (zoals abnormaal gedrag of tekenen van ziekte/ongemak) naar het team

  • Je neemt actief deel aan teamvergaderingen

  • Je bent verantwoordelijke voor materiaal- en/of voorraadbeheer

Over jou

  • Je bezit een diploma in dierenzorg

  • Proefdierkundecertificaat is een must

  • Ervaring met verzorging van grote dieren is een pluspunt

  • Je spreekt vloeiend Engels

  • Je hebt ‘team spirit’ en  kan aarden in een dagelijkse samenwerking met een kleine groep dierverzorgers

  • Je bent flexibel, zelfstandig, proactief, attent en gemotiveerd

  • Je houdt van fysiek werk en bent graag buiten

  • Je hebt een rijbewijs, minstens klasse B

  • Software kennis: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote

We verwachten een Engelstalige CV met een paragraaf waarin de technische expertise wordt gespecificeerd.
