About the job
The mission:
The ICF Head of Portfolio Management is the strategy implementation leader for the M&S Campus (Insulins) Frankfurt. This spans across the various Insulin units, from API to devices through Fill & Finish activities.
The Insulin portfolio includes priority products (Toujeo/Lantus, Soliqua, Apidra) reaching around 3 Billion Euros sales, with a steady trajectory but a changing product/market and price/volume mix. The incumbent is a member of the M&S Campus Leadership Team, with full visitibility over the various units and functional activitvites and challenges. The position holder is playing the key role to gate, prioritize resources and projects, and also lead the design of the site master plan factoring in priorities and long term mission.
Main responsibilities:
- Single point of contact for IFL / M&S GenMed strategy teams and ownership at site for key strategic processes as detailed below (StratPlan, Site Master Plan, Sourcing, LTIP / capacity management, Project Portfolio management and prioritization, Risk Management) in close collaboration with the corresponding global functions
- Leads the strat plan for M&S Campus (Insulins), and associated governance, tools, and outcomes.
- Leads key strategic projects for the Campus, eg.: site master plan and roadmap; footprint studies and scenario making, down to decision making process, if necessary involving corporate stakeholders.
- Key LCM and transfer (internal/external) projects, together with MSAT resources and in close coordination with IFL and ICF head for prioritization
- Owns the MSEP roadmap, in alignment with IFL and M&S Campus Head
- Leads all risk management based activities, including the role of M&S Campus risk officer, managing all relevant inputs and stakeholders, and owning the Qualypso information on the topic.
- Owns the Site project portfolio, consolidating as ONE project portfolio at site (CAPEX+OPEX) , gathering inputs from all functions (MSAT, Engineering, HSE, Quality, OpEX, Digital,…),
- Accountable for monitoring / reporting on the project portfolio (incl. Progress, actions, costs, risks)
- Ensure data quality in Shine, ensure monitoring & reporting, conduct end user training and ensure use of PM best practices
- Support link of Site Project portfolio with GBU/ M&S portfolio process, including relevant governance & preparation of gate reviews
- Owns the project prioritization process, whatever the nature of project OIE and overall FTEs envelope, as reflected in Shine. In this role, the PM Head will have to challenge his peers at M&S Campus LT
- Co-leads the M&S Campus (Insulins) Capex process with engineering, with business opp’ty gate ownership, and scenario freeze gate co ownership
- Owns the LTIP process, and is accountable to provide at least 2 times per year (strat plan and budget) a capacity occupancy view by technology / line
- Runs capacity and line allocation scenarios for various business cases (dual source; BD internalization; 3rd part activity; investment case)
- Is the focal point with his/her team for providing information or building sourcing cases involving ICF assets. Will review them with global sourcing team and IFL, and all relevant information providers.
- Oversight and 360 view at all tech transfers in and out, including local manufacturing activities and demand transition to emerging sites, in clear relationship with IFLs involved (Genmed emerging, insulins, etc.)
- Can be involved on ad hoc basis by Insulins IFL and M&S GBU strat heads in commercial franchise discussions, including launches, LCM, BD deals, etc.
- Overall insulin capacity management beyond M&S Campus (Insulins) leveraging all other plants will be provided by global sourcing around the injectable platform.
- Contributes to talent development and adaptation of skills and capabilities to the portfolio needs developing strategic thinking, business acumen, and leadership skills.
- Fosters sharing and application of best practices and digital solutions to the job scope, creating maximum transparency and access whenever possible.
About you
Experience/Education:
- In depth knowledge of at least two: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Process Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory requirements, Project Management, and application thereof in commercial Biopharmaceutical Operations with minimum 15 years of total industry experience.
- Scientific university degree preferably in biotechnology, chemical/pharmaceutical engineering or natural sciences. In addition, an MBA or real-world business acumen is preferred.
- Outstanding leadership skills with proven track record in building and leading cross-functional teams or/and leading industrial sites, units or development center management.
- Extensive leadership experience (minimum 10 years) in biopharmaceutical industry within the field of bioprocess development or manufacturing in biotech or pharmaceutical industry, or project leadership for larger projects, or leading an industrial functional team.
- Experience with pre- and post-launch activities (tech-transfer, continuous process verification, inspection readiness, cGMP knowledge, HA regulations, quality systems) preferred
- Experience in portfolio and project management, with ability to prioritize and manage A products vs tail
- Direct production operations or late stage development experience preferred (QC, QA, MSAT, Engineering)
- Continuous training on digital tools, supporting decision making (Kinaxis, SmartQC/LIMS, eOEE, Qualipso, Sapiens or TM1)
