The department of Translational In Vivo Models (TIM) within Sanofi's R&D in Frankfurt, Germany, is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist with a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, and mouse genetics. In this role, you will carry out molecular and immunological characterization of genetically engineered rodent models that are crucial for early phases of drug development.

Main Responsibilities
Model Characterization and Validation
- Conduct molecular and immuno-phenotypic characterization studies of genetically modified rodent models using state-of-the-art equipment and methodologies
- Design, organize, and execute validation experiments for new transgenic models, ensuring alignment with project milestones and timelines
- Collaborate closely with principal investigators, project pharmacologists, and Sanofi researchers to define and meet specific research project needs
Technical Expertise and Analysis
- Perform advanced multicolor spectral flow cytometry (15+ colors) including panel design, optimization, and critical data interpretation
- Conduct unsupervised flow cytometry analysis using platforms such as OMIQ and FlowJo
- Characterize diverse immune and non-immune cell sub-populations by cytometry
- Culture murine primary cells including isolation (magnetic and FACS cell sorting), culture, activation, and differentiation
Data Management and Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure quality and integrity of all data collected through proper compilation and entry into database systems
- Manage electronic laboratory notebooks and maintain rigorous documentation standards
- Apply statistical analysis methods using Prism and other relevant software
Strategic Collaboration
- Maintain interactive working relationships with model providers, CROs, colleagues, and key stakeholders
- Provide expert guidance on transgenic research models and recommend optimal validation strategies
- Share knowledge through monthly oral presentations and collaborative discussions with multidisciplinary teams
- Implement and recommend new procedures to enhance model development processes
Laboratory Operations
- Conduct mice experimentation at Designer level: genotyping, breeding, injections (IP, IV), in vivo immunization, and sample processing
- Follow HSE requirements to implement and expand laboratory activities
- Contribute to laboratory management and best practice development
About You
Required Qualifications
Education:
- PhD in immunology, molecular biology, mouse genetics, or related biological sciences
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in multicolor spectral flow cytometry (minimum 15 colors), including panel design, optimization, analysis, and critical interpretation
- Extensive experience with spectral cytometers (Cytek, BD, Sony, or similar platforms)
- Proven expertise in unsupervised flow cytometry analysis (OMIQ, FlowJo, or equivalent) - mandatory
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis using Prism - mandatory
- Strong background in mouse molecular genetics and immuno-phenotyping
- Experience in project management: designing, organizing, and executing experiments aligned with project objectives
Technical Skills:
- Expert-level knowledge in immunology and biological sciences
- Proficiency in culturing murine primary cells and performing cell isolation techniques
- Competency in mice experimentation (Designer level) including genotyping, breeding, and various injection routes
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and database management systems
Languages:
- English: Full professional proficiency required
