Finance that fuels discovery. In R&D Controlling, your work helps bring the miracles of science to patients. Join a high-performing team focused on finance transformation and building a best-in-class Controlling Operations organization within the Budapest Hub. As a trainee, you'll contribute to meaningful work from day one — gaining real exposure to global pharmaceutical finance while growing alongside experienced professionals.
You will support the controllers who manage R&D costs across their perimeter, working closely with Finance Business Partners and R&D stakeholders around the world. This is a hands-on learning role designed to give you practical experience in financial controlling within a complex, global organization. You'll be guided by experienced colleagues who are invested in your development.
Main responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing monthly variance analyses, comparing actuals against budget and forecast
- Support month-end close activities by gathering, checking, and consolidating financial data
- Help maintain and update budget tracking files and reporting templates
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations and reports for internal stakeholders
- Perform data reconciliation across multiple systems and flag discrepancies for review
- Assist with ad hoc financial analyses and research as requested by the team
- Participate in process improvement initiatives by documenting current workflows and suggesting observations
About you
Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering)
- Min. 30-40-hour availability/week
Soft and technical skills:
- Good working knowledge of Excel; willingness to develop advanced skills on the job
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and curiosity to understand the numbers behind the data
- Ability to manage your time and stay organized when handling multiple tasks
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative in a professional environment
- Comfortable working with data from multiple sources and systems
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to build relationships across teams
Languages: Fluent in English mandatory (written and spoken), any additional language skills are a plus, particularly other European languages, given the international nature of the role
