JOB PURPOSE:

The Medical Head for Greater China will lead the medical strategy development and execution for the pre-launch phase of new vaccines/innovative prophylactic products. This role focuses on building a strong scientific foundation, planning/driving data generation, driving stakeholder engagement, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure a successful launch in Greater China. The candidate will bring a Pharma 2.0 mindset & experiences, combining innovation, agility, and collaboration to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Medical Strategy

• Develop and execute the medical strategy for the vaccine’s pre-launch activities in Greater China, particularly data generation.

• Align local plans with global strategies while addressing local market needs.

2. Medical Evidence Generation

• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive medical evidence generation strategies for new/innovative products in Greater China, collaborating with global teams and local stakeholders

• Design and implement robust medical/real world studies that address local healthcare needs and the company’s strategic goals

• Establish strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, healthcare organisations such as hospitals, and public health authorities to enhance scientific evidence and drive value recognition of immunization

3. Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, medical societies, and public health stakeholders

• Organize advisory boards and scientific discussions to generate insights and advocacy

4. Clinical and Scientific Support

• Provide medical expertise for regulatory and other submissions

• Drive/support disease burden/real-world evidence generation and Phase IV studies, if applicable

5. Medical Training and Communication

• Deliver training and scientific materials to internal teams and external stakeholders

• Ensure close collaboration & alignment with cross functions in Greater China and with global medical function/other counterparts

JOB-HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Needed experience, qualifications and competencies

1. Education

  • MD, PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., infectious diseases, immunology

2. Experience

  • 8+ years in medical affairs or related roles in the pharmaceutical/vaccine industry

  • Proven track record in pre-launch strategy and stakeholder engagement in Greater China

  • Strong expertise and experiences in medical evidence data generation

3. Functional/technical competencies

  • Fluent in English

  • Good knowledge of study execution, benefit risk management and regulatory affairs

  • Excellent medical science knowledge of in general including main competitors

  • Good knowledge of vaccinology

  • Highly innovative with the ability to drive a complex and changing environment and effectively manage and resolve issues within the TA/field

  • In-depth knowledge of study methodology, study design, data review and analysis

  • Excellent knowledge of study publication processes and publications

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical business

4. Behavioral competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work in teams

  • Strong in communication, negotiating & presentation skills

  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of stakeholders

5. Leadership competencies

  • Ability to build effective partnerships between internal stakeholders
