External Manufacturing and Supply (EM&S) Specialty Care organization is accountable for all Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) across the Specialty Care GBU that delivers Sanofi products. We serve the GBUs within M&S with drug substance, drug products, and finished goods, aiming to develop ourselves into a best-in-class organization that continuously strives towards three priorities – (i) Ensure Supply, (ii) Deliver Financially, and (iii) Grow Talent. In addition to Running the Business, we are committed to Transforming the Business by defining our strategic global footprint for preferred partners and deploying the right technology in centralized performance management of CMOs

The Head of Specialty Care Large Molecule Operations Team will work: 

in partnership 

• Head of the External Site Team, External Manufacturing Product Teams (EMPT) heads and other functional heads

in alignment 

• with EM&S business partners

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supports on time and in full delivery of products for CMOs/External Suppliers within External Site Team, accountable for reporting of Specialty Care & EM&S KPIs.  Drives continuous improvement in internal and CMO performance areas of Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery.

  • All aspects of people management for EST Operations personnel and accountable for financial resource planning within budget, including generation and maintenance of labor model.  Supporting Sanofi's DE&I initiatives. Develops and maintains a positive culture to create the right environment for highly productive teams in a psychologically safe environment.

  • Advisor on the management of product/CMOs from an operational and financial perspective, contract topics and technical support. Ensures all EM+S related aspects of tech transfers and commercialization into new CMO's are effective.

  • Drives Standardization & Simplification initiatives working with functional heads and the Center of Excellence Technology, SMS, and Digital team. Work with EMPT & CMO Business Operations Team to standardize contracts. Serves as the internal point of contact for introduction of new digital tools, (e.g., Power BI and Plai). Work with EST and Procurement on implementation of cost saving initiatives.

  • Support problem resolution, including deviation and change control support, between Ops personnel & both internal and external business partners.

  • Work transversally with other functional heads within EST to standardize and optimize the CMO management processes. 

  • Support EST in execution of related projects and sourcing activities as a CMO and product expert.

  • Key Responsibilities may differ among employees with same job title and may change over time in accordance with business needs.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with scientific background or equivalent and 10+ years of experience  OR 

  • Master’s degree with scientific background or equivalent and 8+ years of experience 

  • Prior experience in operational roles, ideally as Site manager, or SLT / Senior Leadership Team member  

  • Good functional knowledge on industrial business processes 

  • Good exposure to cross sites & cross GBUs / Global Business Units networking is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic or good understanding of data management and IA digital products 

  • Knowledgeable in E2E / End to End product & industrial strategy, performance management, project management 

  • Knowledgeable in biotech/pharmaceutical industry technologies 

  • Strong analytical skills. 

  • Good command of KPI / Key Performance Indicators, target setting & monitoring 

Special Working Conditions

Ability to travel as needed to support onsite manufacturing oversight (up to 20% per year)
