As a Technical Expert for Automated R&D Lab Data Inventory, you will play a crucial role in revolutionizing our R&D laboratories. Your expertise will drive the design and implementation of a centralized Lab Data Inventory, enhancing data accessibility, integration, and utilization across our global R&D network while ensuring full GxP compliance. This role serves as a critical bridge between laboratory scientists, researchers, and technology teams, focusing on the automation and digitalization of lab equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of laboratory operations with strong business analysis capabilities to enable seamless integration of digital solutions in our research ecosystem.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work into a dynamic team, fully empowered to propose and implement innovative ideas enabling and leveraging AI, ML concepts. This role will also provide hands-on experience on collaborating with diverse vendors and major internal & external stakeholders.

Main responsibilities
Design and build a central Lab Data Inventory (repository and metadata structure) for R&D lab data in collaboration with the Digital Data Product team.
Develop a comprehensive metadata schema that accurately represents diverse R&D data types
Architect a scalable and flexible repository structure to accommodate current and future data needs
Implement governance protocols to ensure data quality, security, and compliance
Design and build integration with Electronic Notebooks (ELNs), including Benchling, Signal, and iLAB
Develop robust APIs and data pipelines for seamless data flow between ELNs and the central catalog
Ensure data consistency and integrity across multiple platforms
Implement automated data extraction, and loading (ETL) processes
Implement data discovery and analytics capabilities within the central catalog
Design and integrate search functionalities for efficient data retrieval
Develop dashboards and reporting tools for data visualization and analysis
Develop and maintain documentation for the Lab Data Inventory and integration processes
Create user guides, system architecture diagrams, and API documentation
Establish and document best practices for data management and integration
Ensure compliance with industry standards (GxP, FAIR data principles, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11, etc.)
Ensure all data repository designs and implementations meet GxP compliance standards
Develop and maintain documentation required for GxP validation of systems
Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to address regulatory requirements
Implement appropriate audit trails and data governance practices aligned with GxP requirements
Implement appropriate data protection and access control measures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand diverse data requirements and use cases
Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to gather requirements and feedback
Translate scientific requirements into technical specifications
Continuously evaluate and implement emerging technologies and best practices in lab data management
Stay informed about advancements in data architecture, lab informatics, and integration technologies
Propose and lead pilots for innovative data management solutions
About you
Experience
Expertise in AWS Cloud technologies
Expertise in DevOps practices and tools (GitHub Actions, Terraform)
Expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data integration techniques
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, R)
Experience with API development and system integration
Proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation
Soft and technical Skills
Strong ability to learn new subject areas independently and efficiently
Strong communication skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Experience with common Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
Excellent team working skills with ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, international teams
Knowledge of laboratory processes and workflows in research and early development environments
Strong business analysis skills including requirements elicitation, documentation, and management
Ability to translate complex scientific requirements into technical specifications
Experience Benchling, Signals (Revvity/PerkinElmer), Other ELN systems
Experience developing products with Agile methodologies a must
Education
Master's or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Languages
Fluent in English (written and verbal) for effective international collaboration
German language skills are nice to have
