Job Title: Senior Scientist, Rare Blood Disorders and Vascular Inflammation

Location: Cambridge, MA

About the Job

Join the engine of Sanofi’s mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you’ll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to drive the advancement of our research and development pipeline in Rare Blood Disorders, with a particular focus on vascular inflammation and its role in genetically driven conditions such as sickle cell disease. This role will also investigate how vascular dysfunction and coagulopathies contribute to brain health outcomes, including stroke and cognitive impairment, within the context of rare diseases. Beyond sickle cell, the candidate will also provide research expertise across a variety of other rare blood disorders to support Sanofi’s entire rare blood pipeline, including clinical assets and marketed products.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying novel therapeutic opportunities and expanding our pipeline into new indications. They will contribute across research, clinical, and business development efforts, helping to align scientific insights with strategic goals. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of therapeutics for rare blood disorders and help deliver transformative treatments to patients worldwide.

Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leverage research expertise to drive pipeline expansion through external innovation—staying at the forefront of novel biology, shaping ideas, and enabling validation studies via hands-on lab work and partnerships with external collaborators or CROs

  • Advance the clinical development pipeline by applying research expertise to drive therapeutic differentiation and uncover deeper insights into the mechanisms of action of key assets.

  • Contribute to life cycle management efforts across all therapeutic programs, with a particular focus on rare bleeding disorders.

  • Strengthen internal capabilities to explore the role of vascular inflammation in additional rare disorders and its impact on the CNS, while generating proposals for new targets and indications—with the potential to lead future preclinical programs.
